On August 23, 2025, the National Guard was founded in Suwayda, what is it about?
Origin
Following the Southern Syria clashes (July 2025–present) the Druze forces needed to unite to protect themselves against attacks from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and Bedouin tribes.1
Organization
They declared Hikmat al-Hijri, a Druze sheikh, as spiritual leader to defend the Jabal al-Druze.2

Opinions
Men of Dignity, a large Suwayda organization, Initially the group refused to join but congratulated the Druze groups.4
Laith al-Balous, a Druze leader, refused to participate, declaring that al-Hijri must preserve the union, al-Balous also declared the "National Guard" to be a baseless measure, calling it a replica of the Iranian "Revolutionary Guard."4
